VOLUNTEER
We are dependent in so many ways on our volunteers. Every year FOL sponsors various special events where help is needed, such as our book sale, Head Start reading program and Movies on Market Square. Volunteers can also help with office work and on newsletter production.
So, how might you help as a volunteer? Check out the opportunities on this website and contact the folks listed for various programs. Contact the FOL office at 215-8775 or email info@friendsoftheknoxcolib.org to find out about programs that need your help.
DONATE
While the Used Book Sale is FOL's principal fund raiser, we also depend on membership dues and contributions in the form of memorials, bequests or gifts to further the work of the organization: financial support for our fine library system. Gifts may be made directly to the organization or through the East Tennessee Foundation, which manages the Friends' endowment. For information about these tax deductible opportunities, contact FOL at 215-8775 or the East Tennessee Foundation at 524-1223.
Beginning in 2007, the Knox County Public Library Foundation, a non-profit entity begun by Friends of the Library, will be able to accept large donations from those who wish to contribute financially to the library. The foundation's Mission Statement follows:
Because a strong public library is a necessity for a healthy and vital community, we established the Knox County Public Library Foundation. The foundation will collect, invest, and distribute funds donated for the improvement of the Knox County Library.
For more information about the library foundation, please call the Friends' office at 215-8775. Foundation board members are eager to talk with you about wills and bequests or any other financial plans you wish to make.
